PS: I found this neat widget on RED BUBBLE for  my photos. I think this is probably for a banner though so I will have to have a play around! If you click it, it takes you to my ‘bubble site.’

I was down at the pond photographing the usual suspects- trees, eels, pukeko’s ducks, lilies , spider nests and pond reeds. There’s always something new to see even if it is only the gradual change of colours. I have been photographing the same pond for over a year now and it’s interesting to still find new things. The plant, or rather the weed, that I have shown here is one of those things. It’s growing creeper like along the ponds edge over the untamed grass. I noticed the bean-pod like star shaped fingers first and then my eye followed up the stem to the flower and back down to the pod with the bug. Copyright Lisa Sarsfield 2009

Normally I am not a bug person but not knowing what this one was, or what sort of flower it was on made the whole thing a lot more interesting. I literally plonked myself down on the semi-damp grass and took around 12 photos of just these 2 things!  If anyone knows what these are please feel free to enlighten me!

Another bug that I caught on camera was this dragon fly. There’s not as many left now but they fly in  and out of the frame like tiny helicopters and I was watching/waiting for the eel (submerged where the rings are on the water) when it dropped in.  The eels were attracted to the bread we were throwing in for the ducks. Some how or another I ended up promising my son an eeling trip so we can catch and release a few for them to see close up. I’m ewwwing already!
