We’ve had rain, rain and more rain here recently. Small slips, power cuts, hotwater shortages, wind and surface flooding. It’s not the sort of weather that’s classified as a disaster and certainly not cyclone material- it’s the sort of weather that’s best described as an inconvenience and a real bummer if you had anything planned for outside. It’s good tv watching or book reading weather!
As the saying goes every cloud has it’s silver lining, and the large flock of gulls that migrated to a nearby football fields is one of them. It’s quite a spectacular sight being less than 7 km from the city centre and seeing all these gulls and sea hawks on the flooded football field. Like some sort of renunion us mere humans know nothing about!

OK, pics of NZ birds without ability to zoom in is a “cruel and unusual punishment.” That is a legal phrase used in the USA to prevent injustice.
